Injuries from falls affect 3.1 million Americans over age 65 each year. These injuries can lead to permanent mobility issues if not treated properly after surgery. Rehabilitation in retirement communities is a comprehensive approach designed to aid individuals in regaining strength, independence, and confidence following an injury, illness, or surgery. These are typically short stays, just until the individual is able to regain strength and mobility or has reached the goals outlined in their treatment plan.
Facilities such as The Cedars offer specialized rehabilitation programs catering to temporary residents' unique needs, encompassing physical, occupational, and speech therapy. By combining advanced medical techniques with empathetic care, our rehabilitation program addresses recovery needs for various conditions such as knee replacement surgery, hip replacement surgery, hip repair surgery, and arm or leg repair surgery.
The benefits of rehab therapy in retirement communities are multifaceted and far-reaching. Firstly, it accelerates recovery, reducing the risk of complications and hospital readmissions. Secondly, rehabilitation helps seniors reclaim their independence, fostering self-esteem and dignity. Additionally, therapy sessions promote social interactions, combating feelings of isolation and loneliness.
The compassionate care delivered during rehabilitation cultivates trust between residents and caregivers, fostering a sense of belonging and emotional well-being. As residents progress through their rehabilitation journey, they are able to strengthen muscles, reduce pain and learn how to do daily activities safely again.
Rehabilitation programs are tailored to individuals, acknowledging that everyone's path to recovery is unique. Skilled therapists conduct thorough assessments and develop personalized plans to suit the specific needs and goals of the residents.
These tailored programs encompass physical exercises, functional activities, mobility training, cognitive exercises, and emotional support. Additionally, the integration of assistive devices ensures safety and accessibility, allowing residents to navigate daily tasks with confidence. Rehabilitation at The Cedars includes a private, fully furnished room as well as access to our therapy pool.
Patients seeking rehabilitation services at The Cedars must meet some qualifications to be considered for short-stay care. The person needing rehabilitation services must have been hospitalized for at least three days with a qualifying hospitalization (such as a joint replacement surgery) and must not require more than 100 days of rehab or other skilled services before returning home.
