Do you ever wonder what your life would have

been like if you had made a different decision in the

past? Is it something you think about a lot or try not

to think about at all? Whichever it is, that type of

thinking is presumed to be an important part of

what makes our brains different from the rest of the

What better way to head into a much-needed weekend than to enjoy an afternoon movie with fellow residents while enjoying popcorn and other home-made snacks? This afternoon, The Cedars will be showing the movie “Courage” about a family facing a storm together in their small boat, armed with only each other and their faith. For those who feel like showing up a bit early, they can also take part in some Wii Golf or Bowling in the fitness center.

The men and women will also meet in The Courts Restaurant this morning to participate in their weekly coffee. I love never knowing quite what topics will arise that require the wisdom of our residents to solve. :-)

Between the quilting groups that met yesterday, and the China painting today, I’m constantly amazed at the craftiness and talents of our many residents! These wonderful people have spent a lifetime working, enjoying hobbies, spending time with family, and exploring life opportunities. The wealth of knowledge that they bring to the table is nearly limitless, and our staff feels so fortunate to be able to spend time with them each and every day, talking to them and learning from them.

I spoke to Classic Flooring here in town yesterday, and it sounds like we’re just a few weeks away from having our two new duplexes done! The Chamber of Commerce loves the idea of having a Chamber Coffee and open house once they are done, as there is a tremendous amount of curiousity both on campus and around the community as a whole. I looked through the windows yesterday myself, and can’t wait to get inside and see what they’ve done to personalize these independent living areas. Stay tuned for more details on that!

Cold and dreary outside, but warm and cheery in the coffee shop! Residents are baking cookies and leaving them out for any who walk by. Although this seems to defeat the purpose of the exercise group that meets every Wednesday morning. :-) I’m sure there are also refreshments at the quilting group meeting this morning, and the Red Hatters always go to a restaurant. I’m detecting a theme… :-)

The closer we get to the holidays, the more resident’s family members I see, which is always a welcome sight. The quality of life that we strive to provide every day still cannot compete with the importanace of seeing children and grandchildren who come to visit from around the country. For ways to stay involved all throughout the year, give us a call! Thanks for all that you do.

December has turned cold, as Decembers are oft to do. Luckily, construction on our new duplex is finished on the outside, so the workers can enjoy the heat inside while they continue to work. Both resident and company holiday parties have begun. The Down-Under Room has several resident family gatherings booked, and company holiday parties are going full-throttle in the Conference Center.

Tonight at 7, the McPherson Brass Quintet will be entertaining the residents. The activity committee always does such a great job of planning these events, and certainly having snacks available never hurts. Families and guests are always welcomed at these events, so feel free to swing by the conference center at 7!
